    • I have a pair of Piloti and Puma driving shoes. Both are great for pedal feel, but they are very slim which can make heel/toe more difficult, but almost never experience an instance of accidentally hitting both pedals.    The Puma were significantly cheaper and seem to have better grip on the soles, so I tend to use them on track more, while using the Piloti for street driving.
    • I've always torqued my wheels before the first session of the day, and then checked wheel torque the morning following the last session, so only when not hot.  No empirical evidence for this, but metal is more malleable when hot, so I suspect that performing additional torquing when hot could result in unintended metal fatigue.
    • It’s not uncommon to see drivers torquing their wheel nuts immediately after a session. I’m hoping someone out there has a definitive answer on torquing wheels when hot. I asked AI (Artificial Incorrectness) and they said DO NOT torque wheel nuts when hot. That’s always been my assumption but AI’s response to the resultant effect was “could result in over-torque or under-torque”. Maybe it depends on the specific wheel components and mounting configuration? Regardless, it would seem best to NOT torque the wheels when hot. Has anyone done testing to prove one way or the other?

    • Hi Folks,  here's a little rear view action from the fall track days event (Sunday).  This is my '06 Solstice Mallet.  Doesn't sound quite right because of the crappy bluetooth microphone.  I think it might be Glen's '26 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (?) that's behind me.  Anyways, a fun day and a great season wrap up.
    • I keep breaking axles in my ice racer. I'm looking for an expert to help me figure out what's going on and to possibly measure for a custom ordered axle. Any help is appreciated. 204.dot.612..3681
    • Thank you, Sir. I appreciate that!
    • Lol, yeah, that would not be the right sole!  Man, you got every ounce of power and handling out of the Veloster...great driving!  My power to weight ratio must be almost 2x the Veloster and you were all over me - very impressive!

    • I know the feeling, Ron! As a fan of funky shoes, I have driven in all kinds of crazy, ranging from no pedal feel at all to downright dangerous. My Adidas Springblade  pair, to be specific, highly do not recommend haha!! I found a couple brands of regular runners that work very well for me, Puma and Under Armour. Comfortable for standing around chatting, and soft enough for confident pedal feel and control.  I had a lot of fun lapping with you on Sunday, that Solstice looks like such a fun car! Thanks for that. Dason
    • A suggestion for your foot comfort, as goofy as it may seem, if you are not requiring the SFI rating you might want to check-out and see if mat (wrestling) or martial arts shoes would work for you instead of a pure driving shoe. They are constructed very similarly with an equally slim/flexible sole but have more support in the arch and ankle than a pure racing/driving shoe. very common in the sim racing world. Good luck!
    • Think I learned the value of slim racing shoes this weekend.  Due to metatarsal issues, I recently changed to a thick soled walking runner.  Coming into turn 9, braking and clutching, my right foot caught the accelerator as I braked.  Suddenly I was sliding across the turn towards the barrier wondering what was pushing me...I got control and straightened out in time.  I think some racing shoes are on the list for next season.
