Bringing the 1972 celica out this September how do I register?

Recommended Posts

Tony and I finally have our 1972 celica ready to bring to an event or 2 this September. It’s our 1 year build that took. 5 years🤦‍♂️. Just had the engine tuned yesterday.

my question is how do we register for an event? Do I need a membership? What else should we know before we come? It’s been a long time since we raced last and I forgot some of the details.

It has been a while since I have seen video of this car, glad to hear it's still moving forward. Question: Have you painted it? Sillier question: Did I see it roll by me at the Winkler Harvest Fest car show a few weeks ago? I can't wait to see this car up close.

Register via MotorsportsReg. No membership is required although the entry fees are discounted if you do have a WSCC membership.

It’s painted battle ship grey at the moment. It was not insured at the harvest fest show. The goal was to bring it to corn and apple car show! We met that goal and I got to talk to so many people there! Probably 5 people around the car checking it out at any given point. We had a hard time getting away from the car to check out the other cars. I’ve driven it around town for the last 2 weeks for the first time, soo much fun!

I see you’re registered for Saturday, so you’ve got it figured out 😁

I was trying to decide whether to come out for Saturday or Sunday’s event. When I saw you were registered it was a no-brainer! I love these old Celica’s. I had a ’71, which I’m sure I’d mentioned before.

I can’t wait to see it and reconnect with you, Devin!

I had a blast racing the celica yesterday! It was also really nice to reconnect with you guys and gals I hadn’t seen in a few years!

2020 was the last time I had raced. I was a little rusty but half way through the first run it all came back to me. The tow rig is something Tony built. It’s his farm truck, essentially it’s a 1950 mercury sitting on a 08 super duty. It’s fast enough to out run a lot of high end super cars.

As far as driving experience in the celica So good and the car is very predictable and very controllable at the limit. It’s very balanced, transitions left to right very quickly. It takes a hair pin very tight. I really love the 2.3 ecoboost. Drop it In second on launch and leave it there, it will do almost 100kmh in 2nd. Power pulls well from 3000-7000rpm. We have a small to do list now but not much at this point. One of those being spacing the brake and accelerator pedals further apart. A couple hair pins we blew on the approach hitting the accelerator while braking. The car was a lot of fun and has the potential to be very fast as the driver mod improves. Honestly though we didn’t even care if we placed well or not we were there just to have fun driving it at the limit.

I have not made a YouTube video in a while. I think I’ll throw an update video together and put it up this on YouTube in a week or 2.

one last question does any one have video or photos of us on track with it? I’d love to see the photos/video of it running. And with your permission put it on the YouTube video.

Thanks,

Devin
