Jeff
Looking into the trade-mark process for work, I came across the Canadian Trade-Mark Database. It's practical use is to allow companies to see whether someone already owns a trade-mark they want to use, but I found it pretty cool to search for anything owned by Honda, for instance. You can find some interesting stuff. For instance, they renewed their registration of "Vigor" after the 15 year period was up, but let "Wagovan" go. Who knew  Also, you can see whether a company is even entertaining the idea of bringing a certain model here. "9-1" has been applied for by Saab. There is no record of "Elise" or "Exige"

Jeff
Elise IS already being sold here in canada.really? i just assumed they were all being imported from the states.and just because it's not registered does not mean anyone can use the name. lotus would win the court battle after proving the name's association with their product, but it would definitely cost more money than just registering it.
