COURSE DESIGN TEAM 2023 - Calling All Experienced and Aspiring Course Designers

Recommended Posts

This is an interest check for anyone who'd like to participate in the course design, setup and testing efforts for the 2023 autoslalom season. If that's you, please reply here or reach out to me via PM!

Who is this for?

Anyone who is a committed autocrosser with interest in contributing to and learning more about course design. Course design team members must assist with:
- Course design input in collaboration with the larger course design team
- Course setup
- Course testing

Course design team members should ideally have the following:
- availability on the afternoon/evening preceding each autoslalom event to assist with course setup
- a race-ready vehicle that may be used at 1-2 events per season by the course design team for course testing

Typical Event Week Schedule

3-5 days prior to event --> A PDF preliminary course layout is issued to the course design team via email for review, comment and collaborative revision.

2 days prior to event --> Agreed upon revisions are incorporated into preliminary course layout, forming the base design to be used for course setup.

1 day prior to event --> Course setup is completed as per base design drawing. Course is walked, tested and revised. This is a collaborative course design team effort to ensure each final course layout achieves the best balance of fun, challenge and fairness while maintaining safety as the number one priority.

Morning of event --> Course design team reviews the positioning of all elements and individual cones to ensure no accidental changes have been made following the final course revisions and test. The course is chalked and locked in place for the event.

We are getting very excited for the upcoming 2023 season and would love to see some fresh (or experienced) faces take part in course design this year!
