Problem for Canadian distributors is if you are still willing to buy used from the US. You can still import a 2007, so they are still going to have to take it on the chin. If you buy a 2007 you will more than likely not be buying another car for 5 years. Still their loss. Who knows where things will be at in 5 years. The irony is however that the media/Canadians have failed to focus on the fact that the Government who supposedly is putting pressures on business to adjust their pricing in accordance with the Canadian-American exchange is the same Government that won't allow you to add an aftermarket immobilizer to the 2008 vehicles. All it would take is a special little asterix with the additional words next to those vehicles stating "admissable with approved after-market immobilizer". MPI is funding people to put them in their vehicles. In Quebec you must either get all the panels etched or get a special immobilizer to get insured. So ultimately to is the Government who are the bafoons. The manifacturers are only taking advantage of the rules.

how can all of the manufacturers immobilizers not meet cdn standards when they already have cdn and us cars. There is no way every manufacturer made two different immobilizer systems. one for us and one for canada. NO WAY. This is a loop hole that is being exploited. Probably just took the same immobilizer system and gave it 2 different part numbers.

They don't even have to do that. All they have to do is tell Transport Canada "The following models do not meet Canadian standards..."No proof required. The responsibility falls on the manufacturers.

The transaction price (not MSRP) is now within about 4% vs buying US for almost all new ford product.

Nice to hear that Ford is getting in the game .... but a question: Transaction price within 4% of U.S. MSRP ... or U.S. transaction prices? They do use incentives down there too. ;)
