bluesi92
I need to replace a double overhead garage door. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations/horror stories.Thanks.
Corey
I used Home Depot for two insulated garage doors. Pretty painless and the guy installing them was a real pro. They worked flawlessly for 8-ish years, and then we sold the house.
bluesi92
Hmm, didn't even consider Home Depot. Had carpeting installed through them and couldn't believe the ineptitude of the subcontractor they hired...Perhaps that's why I didn't consider them
Need my Focusin
I recommend going with a draw bridge style door as a replacement. It might involve digging a moat and who knows how getting a permit for that will go but I think It would be way better stylistically speaking. MRS Joe
Overhead door has a second shop on archibald with scratch and dent doors at a great discount. I used a guy off kijiji and the door was a great price. His install on the other hand was a waste of money as I ended up having to readjust the whole thing after. bluesi92
I've booked an appointment for an estimate with Overhead Door. I'll ask about their scratch and dent bin.

nopistons
For what it's worth...W.O.H.D. has been an issue for me countless times. The company I work for has service agreements with them and we can't wait for it to be over. They also work as a sub sometimes during door replacements and it's generally a hassle. I've had them quote on some residential work but haven't been impressed with what they've provided. Just saying...
Jim Eh.
A few issues with Hanover Doors for both service and parts quality. Had them do a Fall Check up on all my doors .... ONCE, bill came to $800.00 and we still had to re-adjust and reseal some doors ourselves. They were however excellent at spraying lubricant into the rollers, got almost all of 'em! If Darin is referring to Overhead Door of Winnipeg, I would ditto that.

bluesi92
Hmm, Overhead Door had done the original installation on our garage and we were quite pleased with them. Definitely not a "fly-by-night" company as Darin implies according to the ir website (http://www.overheaddoorwinnipeg.ca/about) and their being around since 1928. We'll see how it goes as we went ahead and ordered the install through them...I hadn't seen all the negatives above...I assure you it wasn't a case of ignoring all the advice offered. Thanks for all the input!
