Should I revise those 2 issues on mine, for next sunday's event? I can do it tomm evening. Ill do it regardless, and then we can see if someone doesn't like. Also after todays course being as long as it was, I think I will open up the north section on mine a bit, or the course may be mid 80s long on avg.

Hey all' date='Is someone else coming out for setup with a truck?[/quote']I will bring my truck... don't have a ball for the hitch if you need the trailer moved. If you have the balls I have the truck.. LOL

As long as your truck has a 2" receiver everything else is in the trailer.

Despite the information we were given by RRX, the site is being used by the Police until midnight. To everyone that came out to help tonight, THANKS!Unfortunately this means we'll have to set up the course tomorrow morning. With that in mind, I plan on being on site for about 7am.

Another great but chilly day. The course was pretty good and had nicer flow than last weeks. Running the cars a little south over the dip was good because the dip is hardly noticeable there. I would have liked to see the start lights a little closer to the staging area and a couple of turns (Chicago box and sharp left in east section) opened up a bit, but otherwise it was fun and challenging. Does the Boxster have poor brakes or was the stop box a little close to the timing lights? I would get hard on the brakes as I crossed the line and would barely stop in time but maybe I need better pads.

I enjoyed the course. definitely pointed out a bunch of things i need to learn in the new car. Pin cones a bit tighter then i would have preferred, but what it did was punish you if you did it wrong and reward you if you got it right....i personally was punished, but i think alot of people were too. good practice though cause you see those kinda weird things when you go to other clubs quite often. the dip wasn't noticeable, definitely worked well doing it like that. we had no problems with the stop box placement with the 8, maybe it's the hoosiers and the fairly lightweight car. but it could have been 20-30 feet back and still have been doable after the gate. Good job everybody! went well today, grid worked really really well with the co-drive cars moving to the front! lets keep that.

I can only comment on Saturdays course as I wasn't there on Sunday. Saturdays course was overall a nice design. I thought the way the course went around the dip instead of through it was a VERY good idea. My only two compaints were the turn on the far east side of the course heading back west and the chicago box/pivot cone in the far noth section. VBOX telemetry showed the radius of the turn on the race line to be under 30 feet. The minimum radius per the rule book is 30 feet and Roger J. recommends nothing under 45 feet. Anything less than 45 feet is a painful manuever. Remember a lot of cars need a 20 foot radius at FULL LOCK to complete a turn and anything even close to full lock is slow and very painful in those cars.Course designers also have to watch to ensure that the radius of turns do not overlap. That also results in manuevers that are far too tight and do not give drivers ample room to set up and choose their own line.Keep those in mind for future designs. Other than that, a good job.

I didn't find that pivot painful at all (slow down, hard left, hit gas, aim for the sweeper), but some cars (& drivers) made it look excrutiating. In retrospect we should have removed one or two of the cones limiting entry to that pivot, but it definitely rewarded careful planning to not put yourself way wide for the next cone. Live and learn.

I have no complaints about either course this weekend, just a couple of suggestions. 1. Saturday .. east side. I found the cone configeration of 3 stand ups and one pointer at the end somewhat odd and perhaps confusing, more so as a marshall than while running. IMO there should have been 3 pointers, "3 wise men" as Roger would say, to maintain consistency. 2. I'd like to see more definition of the "outside" of corners, e.g. a north-south wall 30' beyond the cone in the north-east corner on Sunday.

Live and learn.[/quote']Easy to say when you drive a little car! The goal is to not make any manuevers "too tight" (hence the rules and Roger J's guidebook). Overly tight sections are not only painful and no fun, they also unbalance a course towards smaller vehicles with tighter turning circles. The goal of course design is to let drivers choose their own racing line, not to predetermine it ahead of time by making manuevers too tight to offer any kind of choice. The season is young, things only get better :)

Oh, oh. There was a pivot cone?:o Actually I would like to make a point of congratulating the course design and setup folks for Sundays event. Despite the weather the setup of the course was like it was taken out of the "Course design" course. Very clean, very easy to see and no "sea of cones". I kind of judge the course setup by being able to walk the course in one pass and not get lost or confused. And it was perfect, great job guys!!!! That should be a keeper for the "How too..." book.It is too bad the weather messed it up but I would love to see that exact course again at some time. Would be nice to drive it, not slide it:D

I was hoping last year when we started posting course maps and GPS maps that we would be able to build a repository of really good courses we could draw upon again at future dates. If people want to revisit that idea, I can start posting the GPS maps again. Maybe we can collectively rate a course from 1-10 (10 being best) and anything 8 or above can be added to the repository for future use? It's really hard to come up with new designs week after week when we have such an odd shaped lot. It would be much easier to start reusing designs or tweaking them a bit. That would save a lot of time setting up courses! Just a though... add your two cents.
