GMP Track Paint Party - Friday May 23

We are looking for a few volunteers to help us finish painting the track on Friday May 23. Please contact me and let me know if you can help out.

This past Wednesday we were able to make a lot of progress on getting GMP ready for the first race weekend. Unfortunately we ran out of track primer paint with 90% of the track edge painted with the first coat and 20% painted with the special FIM paint. We also mounted the rest of our many sponsor signs as well as put a fresh coat or red/white on most of the concession building. Its looking good!

Big shout out to Johnny Armatas for bringing out his professional crew to help get that work done along Greg Eastwood, Steve Leiding, Brian Wiebe, Wayne Kehler and myself. The planned completion paint party will have several guys from the MRA club helping out however we still need a couple more to be able to complete everything on the 23rd so please consider stopping by to help out...all supplies, training and refreshments will be covered ; )

Its tough enough to apply the 4" track edge line straight so we will only be providing refreshments AFTER that has been applied 😀

Paint Party #2 was a success and the GMP road course now has a fully painted track edge with FIM approved paint. 

Big shout out to Steve Leiding, Wayne Schellekens and Helmut Friedrich who came out to join me along with Riley from the MRA club who also rounded up several more bike race volunteers as the day went on. Its no easy task to paint 2 coats of a 4" line over 3 miles long. 

An additional comment...only those people who volunteered to help paint the track will be allowed to comment on the "straightness" of the lines. All other comments or feedback will be gleefully ignored! Lol.

Paint Party #3 will be scheduled likely later in June to paint the curbing and the pit stalls. Stay tuned.
