Lac La Biche Winter Festival of Speed - Western Championships Ice Races - March 1&2

Who's up for a road trip to Alberta to show everyone that Manitoba and the WSCC has the best ice racers in western Canada!

Drivers are invited to compete in the 41^2ndannual Lac La Biche Winter Festival of Speed and Western Racing Championship.  Races are conducted over two days with two races on Saturday and three races on Sunday.

Prize money is paid to the top half of the field in each class with each class winner being guaranteed $400.

$300 Travel money is paid out to each entry from Manitoba.

Lots hotels in the area with an incredible weekend winter festival.

This always sounds like there is a lot of fun to be had! Even if someone was not interested in the actual ice race, there seems to be something for anyone.

I hope that some of our racers can find the time and commitment to make that trip and represent WSCC in Northern Alberta... and take some trophies home!

Unfortunately our convoy of WSCC Ice Racers got as far as the Flying J truck stop on the edge of Winnipeg where we stopped to await further updates from the Festival Organizer regarding the impact of their warm weather on the planned race event this weekend. After too many coffees to count it became apparent that the racing could not proceed due to the lack of snow and melting ice.

Big thanks and shout out to Ken Staples the event organizer along with Matt Sinfield the NASCC Ice Director for doing all they could to organize a fantastic ice race weekend only to have it canceled at the last minute by Mother Nature. 

We hope we will be able to attend next year!
