FFAttack
Hello All, I have recently relocated to Manitoba from BC. I’m finally entering my first track day and race weekend this weekend. I had not notice before but no one offers 94 octane here? My car was tuned in BC on Chevron 94 and Shell 93. What is everyone’s preferred fuel here for higher compression motors or boost? Thanks, Jeremy Edited September 22, 2022 by FFAttack
Brian_Earl_Spilner
Husky and Mohawk used to offer 94 years ago back when I needed 94. Not sure if they still do, but their 94 had ethanol in it (if that matters to you). Not sure who/where else offers 94 these days.

I’ll maybe try Shell V-power 91 and hope for the best.

dark_daku89
Using 91 octane from shell and boostane to increase the octane rating
donrolandofurioso
I need to clarify my previous answer. AvGas is allowed in Time Attack, but because it is over 95 Octane you will take PIPs for using it. Adding Octane Booster will also give you PIPs, even if ou have not reached 95 Octane with the usage of Octane Booster.
mcorrie
A bit late to the party…Re: AvGas, it’s called 100LL, or 100 octane low lead, but it’s quite leaded, and not a little, it has a lot more lead than we used to have in pump gas. It will kill your O2 sensors. The 91 Shell is pretty good. I have tried a couple other 91’s and while my rating system is quite elementary (does it Rev clean? Does it run-on (dieseling)when I shut it off? I get yes and no, Shell is all good for me.

My kids come to the track and are regularly around my car. Knowing what we do now about the effects of lead on kids I’m amazed it’s still used. I ran Shell 91 with no issues, I plan to get the car on the Dyno next spring to double check and make sure it’s not got any knock. Jeremy

Jeremy Let me know if you want another car when you go to the dyno, I'd love to see what my new one makes. Plus... I really want to see what yours puts down, that thing was flying out there! haha Dason

Last Dyno was on a Mainline Pro Hub and it made 241whp and 181ft/lbs.
Maxdia
I've experimented with blending Tolulene with shell 91 octane to get 94, i honestly couldn't notice a difference on the butt dyno, but saved some miliseconds at the drag strip. Boostane made my spark plugs and o2 sensors turned orange and have a residue Edited October 7, 2022 by Maxdia

It would be more beneficial if you could hear the difference; did the motor Rev easier? Did it sound better at all? How did it start hot? Cold? On shell VPower I got some dieseling or run-on when I shut it off. This was new as it didn’t do that before. I added a simple over the counter fuel additive and the problem went away. Like you, maybe it added 1-2 points of octane, but that wasn’t for power, but drivability and for reliability. Those are the gains we want because it allows us as drivers to be in tune with our car so we can get the most out of it.
