Mike
Hey all, spread the word...the 2021 Ice Racing School is open for registration. If the pandemic situation improves in Manitoba and covid restrictions are relaxed enough to have an event we plan on putting on an ice school on the Saturday of the first planned race weekend. Currently this is planned for Jan 30th at the Winnipeg Ski Pond (WSP). Note: registering on MSR currently just reserves a spot and will not charge your credit card until just prior to the event and only once event is confirmed. https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/2021-wscc-ice-competition-license-school-hpde-lake-shirley-winnipeg-468024?utm_source=apis&utm_medium=apim&utm_campaign=apic&utm_content=html Cost is only $150 for WSCC club members (non-club members are welcome however must obtain membership). Entrants for the school also will receive entry into the Sunday's event day for the Ice Attack group ($60 value). Student count is currently capped at 20 entries so reserve your spot now. Outdoors, socially distanced activity coordination and the opportunity to practice drifting on ice...you won't find a more covid friendly "group" activity this winter! Keep an eye on the forum for updates as we all monitor the pandemic situation and our potential ability to ice race this winter. If you have any questions feel free to contact ice@wscc.mb.ca Edited January 11, 2021 by Mike event canceled
Mike
Please note with the cancellation of the first planned weekend in January the school will now be held at the Winnipeg Ski Pond (WSP) on Jan 30th (pending approval and lifting of current restrictions). Hopefully 2021 is a better and brighter year! Edited December 15, 2020 by Mike edit made to school date/venue
Weebly
Thank-you Mike, for staying on top of Ice Race and HPDE schedule situation and keeping us updated as changes happen. Now, let's be honest, which is more work - dealing with the administrative side of things? - or shaving 25mm of tread off a tire at 1mm per pass? They say you should have lots of lubricant when shaving tires. They meant the tires, right?
Mike
Shaving tires is a lot more relaxing and less stressful than dealing with the administrative uncertainty of planning/scheduling right now! Given the correct amount of fluids it is almost pleasant...almost but not. lol.
Mike
Unfortunately with the ongoing forced cancellations of our racing plans due to covid restrictions we have decided to cancel plans for a ice racing school this year. If restrictions are softened to the point we are able to still race we are planning a hotlapping/test & tune day at the Winnipeg Ski Pond venue on Feb 13th and if any newcomers are looking for some complimentary coaching/feedback please feel free to reach out to any of the event coordinators and we will try to help coordinate some assistance for you. This sucks, but it may be for the best. I heard on the radio this morning that they are warning people to stay off the ice still. We haven`t had cold enough weather, and people are breaking through all over the place.
