wayne696
Hi all, Just wanted fellow club members to be aware of the danger of the 2013 Ram 1500 steering system. Last week my uncles ram had to be towed over to my shop to figure out why he couldn’t steer his truck. The steering had locked up. Eastern Dodge wanted about $3700 to fix it. They diagnosed it as the internal system of the electronic steering system had failed. Two days ago, my guys had removed the rack. Out of curiosity, we decided to crack it open. As soon as we split it between the module and motor. An awful smell of burnt electronics and water came out. Water got inside of the steering rack and fried the module through the broken inner tie rod boots on both sides. If you have these trucks. Check the boots on your inner tie rods before it fails. My uncle was lucky it didn’t happen while he was driving.

Jim Eh.
Yup, marvels of technology. Wait until electric cars are the majority. Watch the repair bills climb then!
