justkickin Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Picked up a stone chip in my windshield on the last road trip and am looking for a good glass shop. Any recommendations out there? Has anybody used those tents that have popped up in mall parking lots? Would you use one of those parking lot people? Should I just get them to come do it in the garage?
MRS Joe Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Why not just take it to speedy or a glass shop then. It's free anyway, take it to a shop that you can do it with.
Brian_Earl_Spilner Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Those mall parking lot tents do a decent job. They basically just use those off-the-shelf filler kits like the kind you can buy at Princess Auto. My mom got a couple of chips repaired at one of them. Quick and easy enough if you don't feel like picking up a kit and doing it yourself. The DIY kits work fine too if the chip is small enough. For large chips, larger than a nickel or so, yeah, take it to a shop.
Beau Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I've taken mine to a shop and done the parking lot thing. Both turned out fine, but the shop (I think it was a Speedy Glass) did a better job. They made the chip almost invisible.
Corey Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Just ask them to leave the suction on a bit longer.I always ask for more suction.
Jim Eh. Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 The mall parking lot glass jockeys are usually guys. just sayin'
