  1. Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Icelandic Pursuit Races held in Gimli on March 2nd as part of our season finale event. Special thanks to Wayne & Nicole Schellekens for the unenviable task of trying to time/score and track the results of these crazy races! Studded Class: #56 - Aaron Stumpf #4 - Brandon Rehill #9 - Lee McRae Street Safe Class: #999 - Mike Gordon #2 - Al Marcoux #47 - Steve Leiding

  2. Thanks to everyone who came out to our final ice event weekend at Gimli. Unfortunately mother nature really didn't want us on the ice for both days as the blizzard Saturday night created a complete whiteout on the lake Sunday morning forcing the cancelation of our racing and all outdoor festival activities. Thanks as well to all those who also partook in our Saturday night Volunteer Appreciation Dinner Banquet. We had a record turnout both on the ice and in the banquet room! Special thanks to Ryan Lysak for his generous donation of a beautiful hand-forged knife that was raffled off to one of our lucky volunteers.

  3. A big thank you to all that helped make our 2024 Fire on Ice Race & Drift season a success. Mother Nature definitely did not treat us kind and threw everything at us from a -44 wind chill day (Lake Shirley) to plus temperatures with no snow (Lake Shirley a month later) and then finally capped it off with a 70km/h blizzard (Gimli). Despite only being able to host 4 drift days and 3 race days everyone managed to still hit the ice with all the passion and spirit that only true Manitoba winter motorsport enthusiasts have. With a record number of 36 entries at our final event day along with 43 people attending our Volunteer Appreciation Banquet I look back at the season with nothing but admiration for all those who participated and supported our club and ice race/drift season. The Ice Drift group continues to grow in popularity and is proving to be a huge fan favorite with their display of ice drifting and driving skills. We seem to be building a solid core group of dedicated club members that are returning to every event every time. I love it. The inaugural season for the newly created Street Safe Class proved very successful with 5 new racers and several returning racers and we are confident that this series will continue to grow going forward as one of the cheapest and easiest to enter door to door racing competitive motorsport that can be found anywhere. The Studded Race Class continues to provide the high adrenalin ice racing action that everyone enjoys and despite mechanical issues plaguing some cars, as usual the racing was close and the championship was decided on the last race of the season. As always, the biggest thanks has to go out to our fabulous group of volunteers. Without them none of these events would be possible! Hope to see everyone out again for the 2025 Fire on Ice Race & Drift extravaganza!

  5. Congratulations to Dylan Sabatini for winning the Studded Class Championship and to Bryce McDonald for winning both the Street Safe Class Championship and the 2024 Fire on Ice Season Points Championship. Some incredible racing throughout the season! Special recognition also needs to go out to all our new rookie racers and especially Ron Theriault and Mike Gordon who both finished every race of the season (which is more than I can say!). Not only did Mike drive his #999 Hyundai to the track and come in third place overall in the Street Safe Class, he also entered every Ice Drift event that was also occurring on race days. If my calculations are correct he removed and installed all 4 tires a total of 33 times for the 3 competition race and drift days. Total hardcore!

  6. On the flip side ... I just checked the regs and you can shave off -2.0 PIPs if you run on biosolids.

  7. Yes the 224 was a very custom order to provide that 1mm extra clearance with out compromising overall performance. They do need to be mounted on a 7.98 wide rim though. 😉 They are 225/45r17, I will edit the post to prevent any further confusion 😋

  8. Thanks Mike!! Missing a couple of practice sessions I believe it's around 60+ times!! Worth every ache! I'm all in helping grow the ICE side of the club. I can't help but think of the efforts of the volunteers. I put everything I have into a good show for them and the spectators as I'm sure everyone else does with hopes of more joining. I'm looking forward to street-safe next year and battling Ron with our dailys!! He's talented!!

  9. Yes, there will be Track Days, also named HPDE. They will show up very soon on the calendar - expect them to be on the Friday of every race weekend. We also have started last year to allow a limited number of HPDE drivers on Saturday and Sunday, interlaced between Time Attack and Road Racing. That arrangement was exceptionally well received, and we are planning on doing this again in 2024. We will keep everybody posted!

  11. Although I never received a reply from OTA, the problem of downloading the PIP schedule appears to be resolved. Like me, you may get a warning that the file is insecure, but if you choose to continue, a PDF version of your schedule will be downloaded. Please submit your PDF schedule to secretary@wscc.mb.ca As Roland mentioned earlier in this post, everyone must submit a new schedule for 2024. Thanks, Brian

  12. You can count on me, as usual. I registered as volunteer for the event on MSR. Only problem I am running into is getting our 2024 WSCC memberships renewed for 2024.

  13. We recently traveled to another city to check out a new barrier system and while there, checked out some full motion Sims. We were wildly impressed and after a few months of research, we just bought 4 rigs. Our rigs have 3 Samsung 32" curved gaming monitors, Heusinkveld pedals, Heusinkveld handbrake, VNM shifter, Simucube wheel (F1 wheel and round wheel) and D-Box Haptic system (actuators) and Sparco seat. I'll post pictures when they are all set up but here's a pic of the one we test drove on our visit. Our rigs will have a GT seating position. 2 of them are full motion and 2 are stationary because we think some people will not want to pay for the full motion. If we're wrong, we can add the actuators to the two stationary rigs. The rigs can be linked to each other or run independantly. iRacing and Assetto Corsa will both be available. They should be up and running mid-April

  16. You can find 2024 events on the Event Calendar As of the last WSCC member meeting, we have 6 weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), 1 for Competition License School and 5 Gimli track weekends. Negotiations are presently ongoing to see if we can have events on Fridays . . . but not yet known. The AutoCross schedule has not yet been set.

  17. personally I would be fine with counting this as record time for your car. You did it at a Wscc event with transponder. maybe I will make a poll and see what others think. I stand to gain from this lol. I'm all for any session the transponder is on being included in the record list. maybe as long as a form of proof like your photo is provided we can make some exceptions to help build the list. then going into the 2024 season I will see if I can get the timing sheets to include the morning practice sessions so we catch any potential pb's that happen outside of the competition result sheet also.

  18. Can we go back to version 1?... I've lost 5 places in the standing. BTW, car is a '19 VW Golf R. I like that this is a raw time record. Its about the only time I really understand. All the algorithms for class, mods, etc., go straight over my head.

  22. I have a 2004 Triple axle Charmac enclosed race car trailer I’m looking to possible sell or preferably trade for a 20-24ft enclosed. I’m the second owner of the trailer, it’s got propane heater, front cabinets and workshop area. Fully wired for 12v and 120v, and air. Has two deep cycle 6v batteries for power (both need replacing). This trailer is also fully insulated. All 6 tires were new in Spring of 2022 with only 2300kms on them. Axles and brakes all serviced at the same time. Awning was also replaced in spring of 2022 as well as a full roof reseal with new vents. Trailer has D rings and E track for tie down of cars/ATV’s motorcycles and Snowmobiles. Aluminum upper tire rack almost the full length for spares. Side access door to aid in entry exit of car. I'm not really looking to sell it just looking to downsize. My grand plans of traveling to events around the country have gone. If you have a 20-24ft enclosed trailer and are wishing you had just a bit more room send me a PM. Wont let me upload any photos sorry.

  25. Can I suggest that if you're going to re-schedule a meeting after the meeting schedule has been published, that you have a email blast sent out to all members advising them of the change? Most members don't do a search of the forums to check whether regularly scheduled meetings have been changed.

  30. Hello everybody! As you have seen, the preparations for our Licensing School are on the way, and WSCC once again needs the help of our trusted volunteers. The school will happen on April 27 and 28, and like always we are looking for helpers and instructors. If you are an instructor, please contact HPDE Director (me) or HPDE Chief Instructor (Darin). If you want to work any of the numerous positions at the track, please contact our Volunteer Director Dason. Thank You all!

  33. I worked fairly hard on this in the winter of 2019 for the 2020 season. I basically write up a proposal that went out to a few companies. I had some talks with them and were finalizing a few right when Covid hit and all communication stopped. The largest hurdle is justifying the ROI to the sponsor, in 2019/2020 it was not going to that big deal as I had 3 events planed in the US with GTA. But for local small or zero exposure events it’s very hard. I have not tried to get anymore since. In this market you’re probably best to focus on small local business. None of the larger companies will see any benefits.

  34. Time to sell the 1 bunk Hilton. If you've been to Gimli in the last few years you've seen it. But it needs a new home. Last registered in Manitoba around 2015 or 2016. 360 engine. 727 trans. Running, but does need work to make it a reliable driver. If you know anyone interested, it will go cheap. Like $200 cheap. If not, it gets sent to a wrecker.

  44. Stumbled across this picture on the web.....absolutely classic! This apparently was taken in 1965 on the Red River at St Adolphe. The thought of ice racing a Jaguar XKE is mind blowing! Close behind him is a Morris 1100 and a Mini 850. Only in Manitoba.....
