Coming along nicely!

Hi Everyone, The work at GMP has been progressing nicely.  We have experienced a couple of delays, but nothing major.  Greg has been going to the track everyday and providing updates to the BoD and Executive.  I have attached a few photo's that Greg has sent along.  Thank you to Greg for all your attention to this project, time and miles put in going to Gimli each day. The seam sealing, milling and routing has been completed.  The 1" smoothing pass has been completed on the back straight. We expect the top coat of 2 1/2" of new surface to be applied next week.  If the weather cooperates we anticipate the paving to be completed by mid to late next week.  We will need a work party of Club members to help with the edge transitions along the new pavement. Greg will be letting me know when and what is needed.  This will depend upon completion of the paving and the weather. I will send out an email with Helix's help letting everyone know when we have the details. The MRA has provided the pledged funds and they have been deposited in the High Interest savings account designated for this project. Greg has also raised an additional $600.00 in donations for Track improvement.  I am looking forward to a smooth and fast track to run on next year. Regards Murray

I could have predicted your skeptical response. They have 93 on only 2 pumps, the rest have 91

Will there be any other events?

Is it actually 93 though? Do they still have 91 as well? Curious if the same tanker trucks that make the rounds to stations with 91 just drop by there as well, or if they have a one-off truck that delivers 93. Not sure how the logistics would make sense for only a single station (or two) to have 93.

Yes, it's true, the Shell at Madison Square across from Polo park has 93 octane fuel and I think it's important to support this so they keep carrying it. I fuel up all my vehicles with it even though only the Camaro benefits from the high octane.

Last year Brad came down and spent a couple of hours interviewing me for the newsletter and I still haven't seen the article anywhere, what's happening with that?

The rock in the picture is from Llew's corner. We removed it with the tractor and plan to put it in the back of the PT Cruiser as ballast. 

This is great to see! I was really starting to wonder when we were going to look at the track. I figured it was going to be a last minute scramble, Saturday morning. There were a couple of real monsters in the southwest section, are those gone too, or will we reroute around them?  

We did a track inspection and did some rock picking on Wednesday. The track is in excellent condition and ready for the first event of 2024 on this coming Saturday. Not too late to get signed up as an entrant or come out to volunteer or spectate and join the fun. A big thanks to Randy for cutting the grass, scraping away rocks and packing corner #4.
