With the hectic season-opening schedule in the books, we are currently leading the Canadian, U.S. and North American Championships after 3-events and 3-wins in 33-days and nearly 13,000km.WORLD OF WHEELS (Winnipeg, MB, March 28-30)*************************************It's official...our Racing Performance Works Australia + Mitsubishi Canada backed rallycar will be on display at the World of Wheels in Winnipeg on March 28-30th, courtesy of the Winnipeg Sports Car Club. This is only one of two venues in all of Canada, with the other nine taking place throughout the United States. Further information is available at http://www.autorama.comCOCHRANE RALLY OF THE RANCHLANDS (Cochrane, AB, March 15-16)****************************************************The next rally on our schedule is Round#1 of the Western Canadian Rally Championship and we're looking forward to seeing our Western http://www.mitsunation.net friends at the event. Details are available at http://www.cscc.ab.ca/cochrane100-ACRE WOOD RALLY (Salem, MO, February 22-23)****************************************Round #2 of the U.S. Rally-America championship took place under some extremely difficult conditions due to the weather and nearly everyone was scrambling to find ice/snow tires for a typically warm event, which was definitely not the case this year. Jan and I would like to personally congratulate locals Daryn Chernick and Co-Driver Joe Czubaty of Winnipeg and East St. Paul respectfully, on their inaugural rally. It's great to see another team based out of Manitoba going after the big boys down south, and they did an amazing job in handling all of the stress associated in running a first event, let alone an event with the conditions that were at hand. Weather aside, we had a great rally despite the fact that we could not keep-up with Dave Mirra/Alan Ockwell this time around. Unfortunately for them though, they ended-up hitting a stump on the outside of a turn on the very last stage with only 7.5 miles to go. Tanner Foust/Chrisse Beavis retired with a broken throttle cable, and freestyle Motocross specialist Kenny Bartram and co-driver Dennis Hotson had troubles of their own when their Subaru died after hitting a deep water crossing/creek. However, with the lead we had, we decided to stop and pull them the remaining 3.5 miles to the finish of the stage, which allowed them to complete the event and gain valuable points. Doing so cost us to loose 2.5 minutes, however, we still finished 14th overall out of 57 cars that had originally started."Zedril brothers drive to defend title...Canadian brothers Jan and Jody Zedril were leading the Production class charge at the start of Day 2 of the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood. The duo said they began Day 1 a little off the pace as they felt out the changeable surface, but hoped to pick up speed on Day 2. “We want to go faster today,” said driver Jan Zedril. “We’re expecting there to be more traction because of the sun – hopefully we’ll see some more dirt showing through." The Manitoba-based brothers are running the full Canadian Rally Championship in 2008, with selected events planned in the United States. They are the defending Rally-America and North American Production class champions and hope to regain the titles in 2008 in their Mitsubishi Lancer rally car."Event Details, Liveupdates and Results:http://www.rally-america.com/event.100AW.2008.phpEvent Photo's:http://rally.subaru.com/event_2008_100acre_gallery1.htmlDay-1 Video Highlights:http://www.flatovercrest.com/2008/02/video-100-acre.htmlDay-2 Video Highlights:http://www.flatovercrest.com/2008/02/video-100-acr-1.htmlRALLY PERCE-NEIGE (Maniwaki, QC, February 8-9)*************************************With Sno-Drift in the books, it was off to Round #1 of the Canadian Rally Championship, which is home to some of the longest stages on the continent and perhaps the longest stages you'll find anywhere in North America...including a massive 45km stage that is run twice. In the end, we were the fastest 2wd car in the entire field and the only cars that beat us were Open-Class Mitsubishi Evo's and Subaru WRX's. We won our class hands-down, and ended-up in 14th overall, BUT, we would have actually finished 10th overall if it were not for the last stage. With 20km to go, the 5th car in front of us caught on fire, and the other four cars in front of us stopped to help extinguish the flames, which, blocked the road and delayed us five whole minutes. Oh well, the main thing is that the car is relatively intact and everyone was perfectly fine. It was a great event, however, the trip back wasn’t the most enjoyable...the highway conditions were brutal with many highways/routes being shut-down. What only took us 24 driving hours on the way there, took 28 driving hours to get back to our home base." The top honours in two wheel drive went to the Zedril crew. The pair have put in plenty of seat time competing both in the US and Canada and were faster than a number of Open class cars. Running a production class Mitsubishi Lancer, the pair finished 14th overall."Results:http://www.rallyscoring.com/results/2008/PerceNeige/index.htmArticles & Photo's:http://www.flatovercrest.com/2008_crc_perce_neige/index.htmlMitsubishi Canada Post-Event Press Release:http://www.mitsubishi-motors-pr.ca/enhanced/en-ca/Media/Preview.aspx?mediaid=814Mitsubishi Canada Pre-Event Press Release:http://www.mitsubishi-motors-pr.ca/enhanced/en-ca/Media/Preview.aspx?mediaid=813SNO-DRIFT RALLY (Atlanta, MI, January 25-26)***********************************The season opener was definitely another wild event...we went off the road 4 or 5 times, mowed-down a 5ft pile of snow, and needed some spectator help to get out of another snowbank. We simply should not have finished, but instead, Dave Mirra and ourselves had a great time battling each other for stages times all weekend, with us coming-out on top :) Ken Block got stuck in a snowbank for 10-minutes, Andrew Pinker's motor blew on the first stage, Tanner Foust got stuck in a snowbank for 7-minutes, Travis was leading the event, but, nailed a deer at 80mph, ending his rally with only (2) stages to go, and placed one of the required emergency triangles on the remaining carcass, while cheering-on each rallycar as they raced by, and many other cars had untimely discussions with the local tree population ending their rallies as well. One of the stages for ourselves in particular was insanely fast...80mph/128kph+ on consumer winter tires through the forest, bouncing off snowbanks the entire time to help keep the car under control, nearly avoiding a massive "off".In-car video of Pastrana/Edstrom's run-in with the deer:

Event drama aside, we were just glad to make the event, as our service/tow rig died 45 minutes West of Marquette, MI early Thursday morning...5-hours away from the event. We eventually unloaded and jumped into the Racing Performance Works Mitsubishi, with 40' of cargo van and cargo trailer in tow to the nearest dealer, which is the only reason we made it to the event. One of the coolest suprises for the weekend was the attendance of Mitsubishi's R&D team from Detroit, along with nearly a dozen EVO's and SUV's that they brought with them and loaned to the event organizers for the entire weekend! Needless to say, Mitsubishi made its presence known, and we had a chance to meet with them and discuss the Canadian Mitsubishi deal, as they want to put together a similar program for the U.S. events next year and beyond. The North American push is on people, and there has never been a better time to own a Mitsu!Event Details, Liveupdates and Results:http://www.rally-america.com/event.SnoDrift.2008.phpEvents Photo's:http://rally.subaru.com/event_2008_snodrift_gallery0.htmlTV BROADCAST THIS COMING WEEKEND AND BEYOND****************************************Just a quick reminder...Canadian Rally is aired/broadcast every Saturday and Sunday afternoon on A-Channel and CityTV.Rally on,Jan & Jody Zedril2007 North American Rally Champions2007 U.S. Rally-America National ChampionsTeam Partners/Supporters:http://www.batteryman.cahttp://www.carsrally.cahttp://www.dmsnorthamerica.comhttp://www.imageplusonline.comhttp://www.mitsubishi-motors.cahttp://www.mitsunation.nethttp://www.napaonlinecanada.comhttp://www.rally-america.comhttp://www.rallywest.comhttp://www.rgna.cahttp://www.rpw.com.auhttp://www.sturgeontire.comhttp://www.whiteknucklephotography.comhttp://www.wscc.mb.ca

A truly excellent documentary video that captures the essence and spirit of rally from a first time spectators' perspective, describing his experience at the 100-Acre Wood Rally.http://moddinart.com/100acre.wmv"One of the best rally content videos I've ever seen" - Alex Gelsomino(Ken Block's Co-Driver who just celebrated his 100th career start at the 100-Acre Wood)NOTE: If you cannot view the video due to moddinart's bandwidth being exceeded, just try again tomorrow.
