Event #6

Here is my fastest clean run from today.

And may fastest scratch time from run 4, a 53.130 with some mistakes. Had it not been for the cone this was good for pax FTD. Alas a cone is a cone is a cone.

@Magner and I both really liked the new Nexen's, even in the wet. They were quick to heat up, and we still have some work to do, but for the new kid on the block, these tires worked really well in changing conditions today.

As for the course, really liked that chute concept, that was cool. The course certainly drove better than it walked, The seemingly random variations in the slalom spacings at the transition broke up the flow of an otherwise good course design. The transition was punishing in the Vette. I think all my hit cones were in the transition.

Had a great time at my second event! I'm definitely hooked!

Here's my quickest run, a 58.5, on my last fun run: https://youtu.be/ZbAEYabmEQo

My phone mount was moving around quite a bit, I'll have to figure out a way to make that more stable. I'm open to suggestions.

Please feel free to give me tips and tricks, I am very new to this!

Nice.  Just left it in 2nd?

I find I had to get to 3rd and worked on figuring that out during the runs... I have 4:10s in the back sooo 2nd can be pretty screaming on the straights.

I'm with Tim, the course walked tough.  Consistently uneven spacing made it very tough to visualize.  However, I really liked the racing line and a few of the risk/reward sections once you got it right!

My 4th run:

I cracked off a 49.7 on my last fun run!  (Dancing the car at 0:41)

Yeah, in the wet first is useless in my car. I do downshift in the dry though. Probably could have on the last run, just didn't risk it.

Still playing with my go pro mount but I'll post a video tomorrow, I've been playing with the alignment and tire pressures on the Buick and it's at a pretty decent spot now. I no5iced a big difference between runs when I had some flow through the transition and runs where I messed up my line and had to work to get it done clean.

Looking forward to a fresh course and some more runs tomorrow!

You'll even leave it in first then!?

Not sure I understand. I launch in first, shift to second then downshift to first for the pivots and shift to second when applicable. If this doesn't make sense find me at the next event you are at and come for a ride along or ask me and I will explain.

Absolutely love the event-specific thread we have been doing this year (or was it always there?) All pros and cons are noted for future course design consideration. Thankyou everyone!

Hey Helix, I think everyone really liked the tunnel/chute that you came up with. It was a great element. I think we had to take out one cone (I can show you where later) to make it a little safer and keep cars off the grass.

We reused it on Sunday although we tweaked it a bit including switching the directions...go through the chute east to west then back through the "tunnel" south to north.

The chute was creative! I liked it. It might have been a little too narrow to be within the rules, but not much.
