We have the Boardroom beginning at 6:00pm. Come and join us for dinner. Take food from the Aaltos buffet back to the Boardroom where a server will take drinks orders. The club will pay half the cost of your meal.

      7:00pm
The annual general meeting will start at 7:00pm.

Please plan on attending to ensure we have a quorum to conduct the annual club business and elect next years executive.

If I recall correctly, Pete had mentioned last year about backing away from organizing the spring/fall drives. Not sure if he's going to give it one last go, but we'd usually have a thread for it by now.

The spring/fall drives are always a fun event every year. I'm no expert on Manitoba roads, so I'm probably not the person to plot a course for this. But if nobody takes the helm, we can probably all figure out an interesting route here together.

Is anybody interested?

Ang mentioned being interested. I don't know the roads either and now with that fire near Ingolf that road may not be an option.

Maybe do a weekend run with an overnight stop in Kenora or Dauphin? I hear the run to Ft Francis is fun. and there are like some neat roads through that valley on the MB/SK border. Not sure though.

The run to Ft. Frances is a great road but the speed limit has been reduced down to 70 KPH for most of the way.

There is a nice road up to Minaki that could be done in a day along with the regular route through Whiteshell.

That sounds like it could be interesting. I have no idea what the route is, so you'd probably have to lead if we end up doing this.

Anybody else?

Depart Winnipeg 9:00 AM, Stop in Otter Falls (1.5 HRS), then onto Falcon Lake for a lunch break (1.5 HRS) then off to Minaki (1.3 HRS)and possibly Kenora for supper. Some of the nicest scenery (maybe before it's gone) around. It has been many years since I have been on the Minaki Road but from what I can remember there were lots of curves. Last time I drove it I was in a '69 Ford F150 pick up

Not sure on the date. This weekend there is autoslalom event. Not sure if anyone who does autoslalom would attend anyway. The following weekend is the May long. This may turn into a "Summer Event".

This would of course be pending the fire situation in the Whiteshell and any road closures. The first leg is not that nice but after Otter Falls it's a great route. Quite long but it can easily be done in a day.

The Minaki run sounds good. It will be interesting to see what happens with fire situation. I will be out of town May long but I could definitely do a day drive on the following Saturday May 29th . The other event I am working on is a drive out to Morden to the Stardust Drive In. Waiting to hear back from them. Maybe we can request a car themed movie.

I can't do Saturday the 28th, but I'm available Sunday the 29th. Should we aim for that? We've traditionally done these on a Sunday anyway.

I'd be up for either the Minaki route (which sounds good.. lots of lakes) and/or Pete's Morden ride if it pans out.

Pete, you mean SUNDAY the 29th? It's always on a Sunday, can't break with tradition. Traffic should be a lot lighter than the long weekend for sure.

I am interested in this. I have to check my calender. I am guessing If it does not matter if I take a sports car or my Toyota FJ? Would be nice to take my family along.

I live in Winkler I would be interested in the drive in event! I have been wanting to go to the drive in just never seems to happen.

Of course you can bring any car you want, but I guarantee you'll have more fun in a sports car versus a lumbering FJ full of people.

Turns out I'm busy the weekend of the 28th. I'd be happy to pass the torch to Jim if he wants to pursue the Minaki drive. I will work on the drive in in Morden for a later date.

Done. Sunday June 5th it is. Pull out your excuse book and give them to people who expect you to be doing something else that day. Should be full on summer so a leisurely cruise down some of the most interesting roads around will make for a great day.

See you in KP parking lot in the south west corner @ 9:00 AM

Bring your sunglasses.

Sounds good to me. And just to confirm: KP is Kildonan Place Mall on Regent? (Not Kildonan Park on Main.) Just my luck, I'd probably show up at the wrong location. Thanks.

My bad. Yes!

KILDONAN PLACE SHOPPING CENTER

1555 Regent Avenue West

In the south west corner of the parking lot (by Sears). It's the area usually used for the Park 'n Ride program with Wpg Transit.

Need to ask people if they want to go through Bird's Hill Park on the way out. They would need a park pass. We could by pass the park if people do not want to pay for a pass.
