  1. Are you interested in Rally racing? Looking to get involved with either volunteering or competing in a Rallycross or Stage Rally event with the WSCC? In order to get there, we need interested people to get involved with attending events in the surrounding areas and volunteering their time. Being a part of a Regional or National rally event is a great way to understand what it takes to put on a Rally event locally in Manitoba. Without a group of volunteers that is committed to learning what it takes to make an event happen, Rallysport in Manitoba will never happen. We need you! May 20th is the Headwaters Regional Rally event in Walker, Minnesota. Full details here: https://www.americanrallyassociation.org/headwaters It's less than a 5 hour drive to the event, and only a 1-day commitment. This is a great opportunity to get involved.
  2. Sorry for the delay folks. The event had to be postponed and is being rescheduled! I will update here with the new date. @Mat
  3. Feb 18th, 2017 - Unofficial Results

    Thanks @grail!
  4. Update: Jordan

Thanks for the update @wolfgirl. Jordan, we all with you the best for the upcoming surgery, and are here to help with the fallout afterwards. Your Ice Racing community is behind you! Speedy recovery
  5. Thanks Peter, nicely done.
  6. Official Event Details: What? Icecross style event (driving on a frozen pond, on a track carved out of the snow, in an attempt to get around the course in the quickest times possible) * Please note that this will not be ice-cross in its true sense, as cones may or may not be used, however future events will stick to a regulated set of rules. Why? The purpose of this event is to start establishing a rally community here in Manitoba once again. This is an excellent opportunity to use track with the ice racers. In addition, seasoned experts are on hand to teach you the basics! When? Saturday, February 4th, 2017 Schedule: 10:45 am - Driver's Meeting --> Location: TBD (We'll just congregate together) 11:00 am - 4:00 pm - Ice-cross Lapping --> Let's rip! We will be doing rotations with the other two groups, so it will run in the following order: 15 min. studded, 15 min. rubber-ice, 15 min. Icecross, repeat Where? Lake Shirley - Off Murdock road, it's the water ski pond in the summer time --> Google Maps Link: https://goo.gl/maps/64jLxrbogHP2 How Much? Entry Fee: $60 --> We pay what the ice racers pay, plain and simple What Do I Need? 1. A current SNELL “M” or “SA” helmet - SA is strongly encouraged - SA helmet mandatory for all vehicles with factory or aftermarket installed roll protection 2. WSCC Membership --> See here: http://www.wscc.mb.ca/join/ 3. Winter Tires --> all season tires are not permitted 4. Register for the event on MotorsportReg (make sure to sign up under the Icecross saturday section --> http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/2017-wscc-ice-race-3-winnipeg-sports-car-club-565778 5. Bring a bucket to put all your belongings in (Rubbermaid tote, for example), as you will need to remove all loose items from your vehicle before you head out on the track. 6. Vehicle must be dimensionally wider than it is tall (same restriction as Autocross) 7. Vehicle must have functional tow points (either factory locations that are intact and easily accessible, or aftermarket hooks in place) How Do I Sign Up? Follow the links above, or text/call me at (204) 294-0286 with any questions/concerns. To answer some common questions: 1. No, you do not need any special modifications to your vehicle. You can show up with your daily-driver (Toyota Tercel, or EVO X, doesn't matter), or your full blown race-car. This is about having fun no matter what you're in, and challenging your skills as a driver. The only requirement is that the vehicle be wider than it is tall (identical rules to Autocross) 2. Do I need a WSCC membership? Yes, this is mandatory for insurance purposes 3. Where can I get a helmet? You can either borrow one from a friend (lots of people in the city that do Autocross, or HPDE that have purchased helmets in the past. OR, go to Classic Motorworks or other speed shops in the city and pick one up for yourself 4. Am I going to have fun? Um, heck yes. This event allows you to do everything you already do when we get a snow storm, but without the worry of being charged for it. 5. Will I become Ken Block / Colin McRae once I've completed this event? No... But if you keep getting involved and participating, then you absolutely have a chance! Let's get this community going, and have a blast doing it! We had an awesome time 2 weeks ago with a bunch of Subaru's, and even a RWD Volvo! Everyone learned a bunch, so I hope to see everyone out!
  7. I have for sale a 1997 Subaru WRX STI. The vehicle is a "Salvageable" status, as it was written off for rear end damage. Simply repair, re-inspect, and put it back on the road! Reason for selling: I purchased it in order to build a rallycross car, however while beginning my prep I found a vehicle in Ontario already built, so I want someone to repair this and put it back on the road. This would make an excellent car for Rallycross or any racing purposes. The undercarriage is clean, the quarter panel are free of rust, and the frame/unibody is still straight.- 2.0L EJ20K engine (~60,000 kms, swapped in from a low kms '98 STI) in great running condition - 5-speed manual - New clutch kit (Exedy) - 4-pot front brakes - Block heater, and oil pan heater What it needs: minor pull to centre section of back end immediately below the trunk. I've already talked to several frame shops about it and it will cost approx. $300 to pull back (See the last picture). The trunk lid has no damage at all, and the rear bumper is scuffed in a minor way, so it's a simple fix. Front left fender is blue (previous owner had already sold the white one by the time I got the car) Price: $2500 Contact: Jared @ (204) 294-0286, or pm here Note: exhaust and mudflaps not included (will have stock exhaust) See here for more details and pictures: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/winnipeg/1997-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-sedan/1233986500
  8. Sold to a local buyer!

  10. Icecross Event - Saturday, January 21st

Sorry to hear that, shoot. I will be figuring out which events will happen this year, and try to give more notice in advance of them happening. I'll keep everyone posted.
  11. Icecross Event - Saturday, January 21st

Excellent post @chkdsk, and thanks for the support! I'm excited to see more and more interest in this. The hope is that we grow a community that is interested in seeing official events happen locally, and also garner a team of dedicated volunteers, as the events won't happen without them. Tons of seat time will happen this Saturday, so get ready and come on out! Like Jordan said, come see me if you weren't at the school during the last event, so I can run you through the basics. Read the "Flags" section of this document for details that will apply to you while lapping: http://forums.wscc.mb.ca/index.php?/topic/10719-2017-supp-regs/
  12. LF/WTB: Ice Race Tires

I'm looking to buy a set of ice racing tires (studded, 13" or 14"). They do not need to be new, so whatever condition you have is good with me. Set of 4 preferred, more if you have. Contact: Jared @ (204) 294-0286, or pm here.
  13. Official Event Details: What? It's a 2-part event: 1. Race School - Al Marcoux will be leading a racing school, designed to teach drivers the basics of racing, and techniques for getting around an ice track as quickly as possible. These techniques will be very applicable to any type of rally driving you wish to pursue. * The Race School is mandatory if you wish to do hot laps of the ice race track for this event. No race school = no lapping 2. Ice-cross style event (driving on a frozen pond, on a track carved out of the snow, in an attempt to get around the course in the quickest times possible * Please note that this will not be ice-cross in its true sense, as cones may or may not be used, however future events will stick to a regulated set of rules. It will be much easier if you contact me in advance so that I can have a solid list of who is coming. If not, you must make sure that you have the required items to participate, and that you show up for the Racing School / Driver's Meeting @ 10:45am To answer some common questions: 1. No, you do not need any special modifications to your vehicle. You can show up with your daily-driver (Toyota Tercel, or EVO X, doesn't matter), or your full blown race-car. 14. Just wanted to thank you all for coming out on Saturday! It was great to see everyone out there eager to learn some new skills, and I think the event turned out great. Definitely thanks to @chkdsk for letting us share the track, @Al Marcoux for putting on the race school, and to all of the volunteers! @white_cross, @Corey, no problem at all! Events will start to happen now, so be on the lookout for the next one. Tentatively 2 weeks from now we will do another event on the Saturday, with tons of lapping time between 12-4. I'll keep you posted!
  15. I'm gauging interest in an event that would take place on January 7th. Event: Icecross, done on the Ice Racing track during the test day for the Ice Racing guys. This is still very much being developed, however I need to see if there's enough committed interest so I can know if we can do it. In addition to running the event on that day, there is a racing school being put on by the ice racers that would be invaluable for anyone looking to get more into racing. They will be teaching the basic maneuvers, so this would be a great opportunity to gain some experience and learn from the best around! Location: Mazenod pond, on Dugald road across from Tim Hortons (within the city). Cost: approx. $40 per person for multiple timed runs. Vehicle: bring anything. You'll need a helmet, more details on that to come. If you are interested in this event, please respond here, PM me, or text me at (204) 294-0286 and I will gather a list together. More details to come as this develops.
  16. @Jruggz, @white_cross, @cboettch, @Corey, @MRS Joe
  17. @Jruggz: Great to hear you're interested! To answer your questions: 1. Yes, as Jim confirmed, any participation in WSCC events requires a membership. In addition, no different than Autocross, a helmet is required. These can be rented, or purchased from Classic Motorworks and other vendors. 2. Yes, one vehicle at a time, same as autocross. 3. Get around the track however you want, just keep in mind the more sideways you are, you'll likely be running a wide racing line and be much slower than you could be. I would say that by teaching yourself to run a tight racing line with minimal sideways action, you'll actually be teaching yourself much better car control than simply putting the back end straight out. 4. Yes, the main event that day is the Ice Race test & tune, as well as the racing school. The school is actually what I want participants to be there for, as it will teach many valuable skills applicable to all forms of racing. If I had to guess I'd say you'll get 3-4 runs. @Corey: thanks for the input as well, and for the video link!
  18. Hey everyone, I just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jared, and I'm the new Rally Director for the WSCC. I'm excited to be taking on this role, and am looking forward to bringing a rally scene back to Manitoba! We've had a long history of Rally Racing in Manitoba, however the last number of years has seen a hiatus in activity. As your new rally director, I will be organizing events to begin in the new year that will include both Rallycross and TSD (Time Speed Distance). The hope is that we will build a community interested in having regular rally events, and gather momentum as we build towards an eventual goal of participating in full stage rally events. One step at a time! If you are interested in any type of rally event, whether it be participating as a driver, or helping out as a volunteer (ideally doing both), feel free to contact me and I'll start assembling names and interest. - Jared - Rally Director, WSCC
  19. Introduction - New Rally Director

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay, the holidays and travelling for work meant I was away from this for a bit. It's great to see more interest in these events! @Magner: Yes, the plan is to model it like the SCCA events. I have lots of learning and reading to do, but we'll get there. @white_cross: My current plan is to run basic Ice Cross events in tandem with the ice racing guys. Winter is difficult for locations, so while I work on finding a suitable spot, the ice racing course is perfect for now. When the snow clears, there are a number of potential venues, including a space at the Gimli Motorsports park, and some others I'm working on. As for your idea to use a GT4 or WRX, this is solid plan. Feel free to contact me if you want any advice on stuff you'll need, or are looking for a car. I actually have a '97 STI that would be perfect for your needs, if you're willing to do some minor work to get it roadworthy again.
  20. Introduction - New Rally Director

Excellent guys, glad to see there's interest in this type of racing. I will be working on lots of details coming up, and try to fill everyone in on what's in store. To clarify, for rallycross it is permissible to use a street car; a dedicated race car is not required!
  21. I am looking for a used fixed-back racing seat to use as a passenger seat in my car this season. Ideally, something like a Sparco EVO/Fighter/Sprint, or the like. Bottom mount or side mount, I have no preference; no preference on brand either. Also looking for a 5 0r 6-point racing harness to use on my passenger side. Current approval not required, just looking for something in good usable condition. Let me know what you have, and how much you're looking to get for it, and perhaps include a contact number. Thanks, Jared
  22. Thanks for the response Magner! I should have clarified that; yes, the interior is still completely intact, with all dashboard components there and stock F&R seats. So, I would be strictly SM? Only thing that confused me was a statement in the SM section that said JDM was an exclusion.
  23. Gentleman, I'm hoping you can help me confirm my vehicle class for the upcoming 2016 season. Vehicle: 1995 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type RA (JDM import, RHD) Unless I'm mistaken, the fact that it's JDM and RHD immediately puts me into Street Modified? Modifications: 6-point bolt-in roll cage w/ harness bar, 5-point harness, Feal 441 Coilover Suspension, stainless brake lines, Rear strut bar (front is stock), full turbo-back exhaust (cat retained) and EL headers, short-ram intake with cone filter, 4-point front chassis brace, 2-point rear chassis brace, manual boost controller (stock boost levels), ESL ECU mod to enable tuning of factory ECU. Engine internals, intercooler, rad, etc. is all stock still. I appreciate the help in advance!
