From J Keith Ralf:
  • I was pleased to see you had gathered together so many old photos. As far as the 1st Gimli event, there was a feature article in the Winnipeg Fee Press describing how the cars were timed and the laps were recorded, under the direction of Bob Austin with photos of our wives and girl friends who were under his direction.
  • On the Morden Hill Climb event I was really pleased to see me and my Corvair in action.
  • Another item of interest was Frank Mancini father's Studebaker in the paddock on one of the photos.
  • As I recall the first race meet we had was at Dauphin, Manitoba. George flew up there with Frank and I to check the air field to see if it would work for us prior to us organizing the event. No GPS in those days just grain elevators and train tracks. When the event was actually held Bob drove me there in his VW Beatle foot to the floor most of the way. No speed traps then.
