I plan to bring along an extra set of wheels with worn snow tires and test out the "RallyScort" in the infield afterwards.;)

What time is the first SS session (according to plan)?

Is there enough time after the drivers meeting to change tires and adjust my camber plates (25 mins work)?

I inadvertently clicked on the wrong close date (22 instead of 23). Should be open till 20:00 hrs today.

If there are issues gettign registered online, rest assured the Club has no problem taking your cash tomorrow morning.

Probably not. I haven't been to a SoloSprint yet this year (so I don't know if things have changed), but in the last few years, the Solo cars were the first ones out for morning practice/warm up. We're usually staged nearly immediately after the morning meeting.

You'd best get there quite early and do all of that prior to the morning driver's meeting.

If you get there early you can get in 25 minutes worth of work.

I'd suggest you get there around 8:00 to be able to do it.

Same. Registered & Paid.

I'll probably be running with reduced boost though... I've been paranoid with the car after rebuilding the motor last fall.

My goodness... what a day! That was more of a symphony of destruction & wreckage than it was a SoloSprint...

Thanks for organizing everything, Joe! It was fun while it lasted!

how did the event go?

Kosta and Nish, you guys missed out. They finished all 4 sessions.

Don, long story short there was:
- seized engine
- fire
- car in the armco outside turn 9
No one was hurt.

Thanks for the ride around the track Dave!

Assuming we stayed on schedule, I could have only done the 3rd heat anyway cuz I had to be back in the city by around 4/4:30ish.

What time did racing begin again?

Don't remember the time but I recall mention that it was a 1.5 hour delay.

Don't remember the time but I recall mention that it was a 1.5 hour delay.

The race resumed at about 3:30 and ended at about 5:30. It's interesting how I happened to decide to volunteer to do corner work at Gimli that day for the first time and "all hell broke loose". What a day. Andrew, who has been volunteering for apparently 18 years, had only had to use a red flag twice and the last time he used it was to stop the race to allow the ambulance to exit the track due to a 911 call.

I was most impressed with the fact that all club members and volunteers attended to the repairs of the guard rails with haste and determination, in a 30+ degree heat.

Any news on the Corvette owner or his car, anyone?

For those of us who were unable to attend, is there anymore info on what happened? Very curious to hear, and I assume everyone was ok?

i'll give a little more info on the vette, it is the white vette, he was really on pace yesterday, ran a 1:05.8! However, braked too late into the last corner complex, abs kicked in, so didn't scrub much speed before hitting the grass, hit the small curb back onto the pavement which got the front wheels off the ground preventing braking or steering input, went straight into the tire wall taking out a large section of armco.

driver got out on his own, and he was very involved in the repair process (and even offered to help fix that corner run-off by smoothing it out), that was great to see. he seems 100% to me.

Great effort by members getting the railing back together.

The driver was fine, exited the vehicle on his own. Probably more embarrassed than anything.

Talked to the driver this AM. The car should be back out for Aug 14 or 15

Thanks to the 15 Solo racers. You are the reason I come out

I am trying to create an account at mylaps.com to see all of my laps, but I need a transponder # to enter.

Obviously I don't own one, just the $10 rental one.

What can I do?

NevadaJoe
07-26-2010, 02:46 PM
Ben

I'm not sure how the accounts at Mylaps.com work. You may have to buy your own transponder to do that.

You can check with what the road racers do. I know most own their own transponders.

Throw a post up under roadrace or send an email to roadrace@wscc.mb.ca

Thanks for the videos Corey!:D Nice microphone placement! The RacEscort sounded mean! The data log info was real interesting, as well. I was surprised that I was consistently pulling 1.06-1.07G in every corner, even turn 9.:)

Thanks to Joe and all the volunteers who made this event possible!
