OK racers (and race fans) the Solosprint 2009 schedule has been established.

Dates are:

June 20
July 18
August 8

If there is significant interest, an event may be held in September. The plan is to get 20 laps in for under $90. In order to make this work we need you out.

Performance Driving school will be held May 23rd & 24th. A license from this or a similar school is required to participate.

Rules and Regs are at: http://www.wcma.ca/2007%20Regulations/WCMA-Solo-Rules.pdf

If you have any questions drop me a line at: solosprint@wscc.mb.ca

It’s your club folks, let’s get out there and have some fun!

Awesome. Can't wait to do it again.

Under $90? Less than previous years too... nice.

FANTASTIC!! Cannot wait!! I missed the school last year so I have been waiting for this for a long time.

Q: Can the high perf driving school be done in a different car from what will actually be used at a Solosprint event?

Yes.
It's the driver that earns the racing license, so you could show up with a formula car for the Solosprint events. You specifically need a two-seater for the race school so the instructor can ride with you.

BURN!

Haha, the driving school happens on the week end that I was planning for my car to come out of hibernation and BEFORE I will have the <insert expletive here> immobilizer installed.

Depending on some things... this MIGHT change, haha.

That's what we're hoping for. This is really dependent on getting enough cars out.

Tell your friends!

I was curious how the scoring will work for this. Will we use the ASN Solosprint Regulations performance indexes (PI) as a PAX factor? (eg.- 93 Escort GT, class T2, PI=52.8 / 00 Camaro SS, class GT1, PI=76.8)

Never mind, I found the PAX factors in the ASN Regulations:

.3 PAX Factors
The following PAX factors will be used:
CLASS PAX Factor
Open Modified 1.036
Modified 1.024
Prepared 1.012
Improved 1.000
Super Grand Touring 1 0.988
Super Grand Touring 2 0.976
Super Grand Touring 3 0.964
Grand Touring 1 0.952
Grand Touring 2 0.940
Grand Touring 3 0.928
Grand Touring 4 0.916
Touring 1 0.904
Touring 2 0.892
Touring 3 0.880

I assume we'll use these.

HI Guys,

What times do you get with the 4 wheeled beasts?

I am switching over to cars from bikes on the track. Probably more expensive but less broken bones.

Have you guys run the track with the new turn 8-9?

The "new" track record with the turn 8-9-10 change stands at 1:00.253

Old records before the change sub minute.

What kinda car are you driving...hard to say what your gonna get going out there. Last year we saw 1:09 - 1:30 ish with your off the street car. the 1:00 is some fancy formula car (albeit from before i was even born), but you can make pretty good time around the track.

Swing it - It'll be a blast!

If you haven't taken a HPDE course make sure you are signed up for it this May.

If I can keep the dates free, I'll be there. I've taken the HPDE in a Protege5 in 2003 and a 350Z in 2006... so I guess I just need to do the registration?

1:05 in the Subie??? That thing was a beast!

don't count on it... You may have to take the school again. I took the school in 05 i think and did quite a bit of lapping in 05/06 and was required to take the school again if I want to do solo sprint

I think the main issue is the changed configuration of the track. At $100/day for the race school, for members, you will get your money's worth.

Note: There's only four spots left!:D

After you have taken the school generally it is good for 2 years. If you are active in solo sprint or road race, you dont have to do the school again.

Solo sprint and road race license need to be "renewed" once a year just like a club membership.

*ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT!*

Hey all,

I saw a post about the road racing event, for later this month, being up and running on DLB already. Will the solo sprint event be up and running soon?

Cheers,
