There will be a rally in Winnipeg (and area) on Groundhog Day, 2008. A week after the next Ice Autocross/ RallyX.
In keeping with the Theme of the Bill Murray "Groundhog Day" movie, there will be elements of Deja Vu in this one. Think classical regularity run. Jim and some in Calgary have spoken in favour of this variation of Rally.
The last RegRun we had was very popular with the ice racers. Ask Al and Peter... Of course it did include icy curvy roads! Set your own pace, for once.
Saturday Feb. 2 2008, driver's meeting 1 pm. $5 per 2-person team.
Meet Jan and Jodi! Our International Rally Champions are planning to be there. Are you?

The event is on for sure.
We will be meeting at Pony Corral, NOT AT AUTO HAUS.
IGNORE WHAT THE WSCC WEBSITE SAYS ABOUT AUTO HAUS.
MEET AT PONY CORRAL PIER 7, AT 1 PM, 1700 PEMBINA, SATURDAY FEB.2
The usual applies: $5 per 2 person team. Takes about an hour.
This time we will be running the popular regularity run, multi-lap format.

I'd like to come and play, but I have a husband who's working (where are his priorities?!?) and two little munchkins (one who can sleep through it all, and the other who likes car rides)...
Hmmmm - dunno...

K,
Try to find a girlfriend to join you. We have been trying to get away from the husband-wife teams. Getting 2 couples to enter as wife-wife, and the 2 guys: this is often way more fun that the usual "I'm going to drive cause I'm the guy" thing.
The next one will be on a Sunday, as our WSCC Rally Director, Dyrk, would like to be a part of it, and he, too, is working tomorrow. Rallies were all on Sunday for many years, but then we found we were more welcome at car dealers (AUTO HAUS, FRONTIER SUBARU) when they were open, and not Sunday.

That was a really good time, and big turnout, too. For those who weren't there, we were given a seamingly easy route to follow with no indications of average speed and we landed up back at Pony Corral, where we were handed a second sheet of instructions which took us over the exact same route (with different questions to make it interesting). Then when we returned to Pony Corral, we were handed a 3rd sheet which took us over the same route for a 3rd time. The trick was that we were scored on how many questions we got right AND how close (in time) we ran each lap to our first lap. So, if it took 41 minutes to do the route the first time, you had to try and take 41 minutes to do it the 2nd and 3rd time-it was harder than it sounds and immense fun. Thanks Dave and Vicki.

Ahhh - I so wished I could have come!!! Sounds like it was a great time!
Is it possible to get a bit more notice on here next time - and I will line someone up in due time to be my partner in crime?! I find I see the posts in these threads before anyplace else and by the time I see it, it's kinda late to plan (with the two munchkins mainly).
I will be at the next one with bells and whistles ;)
Kristina.

I try to schedule these things around other local motorsports. Mostly because I cannot time a race and hold a rally at the same time, plus we have lots of racers and autocrossers at rallies. If a weekend has no other local event, it is better for families, in general.
We usually set dates a month or two in advance. The dates appear in the Aficionado, and on the WSCC website. We usually do a reminder email a week or so before the Rally. The WSCC process for making these notices can take quite a while though. We could add a reminder of upcoming events a month early as well, for those who do not use the Aficionado and site to make up their calendars.

Would-a, could-a, should-a......some times it does not pay to change your mind. Hope the Boxter survived the gravel.

We took the Boxster because the truck has smaller than stock wheels and the odometer and speedo are off. We drove the Boxster verrry slowly on the gravel and landed up winning the timing portion of the rally, being off by only 36 seconds on 3 rounds.
