As you can probably tell, I'm loving my new A3S04 rubber. At $89ea they seem to be an awesome value, so I was going to buy another 4 for when these ones are toast (I figure about this time next year, or much sooner if my brother starts co-driving more). The problem: Hoosier only has 3 tires left in stock.

OPTIONS:
I was going to rotate f-r after a while on these ones, to keep wear more even, but I could just leave them until the fronts wear out. Is it worth it to pick up just 2 and change them when the fronts see cord? Would the difference in front-to-rear grip throw me off?

The other option is getting 2 S04s and 2 S05s, as the same size S05 was just discontinued and put on the website today. Not a great deal though, as it's only about $20 cheaper than a new V710 of the same size. Then I'd be replacing them all at the same time, but would you recommend running 2 different generations at the same time?

What would you do?

I ran a set of old tires and new tires on the Porsche because it goes through 3 sets of rear tires for every front set, and they can't be rotated. On a FWD car, just stick the less grippy ones out back, they are only there to keep the fuel tank from dragging on the ground.

As a rule, you don't want to just throw dead tires on the back end or it will be stepping out on you all the time.

I'm not sure how much the s04's drop off as they wear, but if your rears are still in good shape when the fronts are corded, it might be a good option to put two new s04's on the front. I always rotate tires every couple events, but then again, I also always buy tires in sets of 4 and don't have quite the hp you do.

great advice... buy all three just in case you cut one ( I did a few years ago)

Yeah I think I might pick up all 3 of them at once.

I should have mentioned my other problem: I run different offsets front and rear. I actually don't know exactly what they are, but the rear is a lower offset than the front, and I can't swap them without having rubbing issues. If I put the fronts in the rear, they rub on the trailing arms, and if i put the rears in the front, they rub on the outer edge of the fender liner. Long story short, I can't rotate F<->R without re-mounting, so maybe just getting new fronts is my best bet.
